MacroLens morning desk note, Monday 2 November 2026.

The rupee reads 332.39 to the US dollar on the open feed, stamped 2 November 00:02 UTC, against a previous feed quote of 332.30. This is a feed quote, not a verified market opening. The rupee remains about 1.0 percent stronger than its end-July level of 335.87.

Brent's front month is now the January contract. On Friday, December Brent expired at 117.64 dollars a barrel, up 2.40 percent on the day, while January settled at 113.43 dollars, up 2.63 dollars or 2.37 percent against Thursday's 110.80, CNBC and Dow Jones reported. The 4.21-dollar gap between the two settlements is the contract roll, not a market move. In early Monday trade January was near 111.73 dollars, down about 1.5 percent on CNBC's delayed quote at 01:49 GMT, after OPEC+ kept its December output targets unchanged.

Gold and silver open-feed quotes stood at 3,902.20 and 50.10 dollars an ounce respectively at 01:05 UTC.

The last landslide early warning bulletin, LEWM-38, expired at 16:00 SLT on Sunday; no successor was listed on the Disaster Management Centre's bulletin list at the 06:40 SLT check, and the desk's rainfall and flood emergency board is retired with this issue.
