Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
This policy explains what MacroLens Colombo collects, why, and where it lives.
What we collect
- Account details - your email address and account ID. If you use Google, our authentication provider receives your basic profile and email to sign you in. We do not request access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive or other Google data. If you use a password, it is held only as a secure hash by our authentication provider.
- Usage events - pages viewed and feature interactions, used to understand what is read and to improve the product.
- Feed preferences - your selected macro topics and sector shortcuts, stored with your account to make them available across devices. They are separate from email subscriptions and are not sent to news publishers.
- Stock watchlist - selected symbols, not holdings or transactions. Guest choices stay in this browser. Signed-in choices are stored with your account for cross-device use. Guest and account watchlists are separate; we do not import guest choices into an account automatically. Account save failures are reported and do not silently replace saved choices.
- Daily email preferences - your account email and unsubscribe status, used to send the Morning Desk Note when you create an optional account for it.
- Major shock alert preferences - the email address you separately submit for shock alerts, selected alert topics, consent text and version, confirmation/unsubscribe status, technical signup source, IP address and user agent, used to verify consent, prevent abuse and send only that alert channel after confirmation. Shock alerts are separate from the daily brief; one does not enroll you in the other.
- Terminal access is public and free. There is no checkout or card collection.
Where it is stored
Account data is hosted on Supabase (ap-southeast-1 region). Vercel provides hosting and page-view analytics.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not provide your account email or account profile to advertisers or data brokers. Google may collect advertising-related data as described below.
- We do not take or store your card details.
Cookies
We use browser storage to keep you signed in. MacroLens also includes Google AdSense code. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to personalise ads, measure advertising and limit repeated ads. Ad-serving technologies may also collect IP addresses and other identifiers.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can manage or opt out of personalised Google advertising in My Ad Center, and manage cookies in your browser. The code does not mean that ads are currently displayed or that Google has approved the site.
Your choices
To remove a watchlist, use Clear selection and Save watchlist in My feed. Do this while signed in to clear the account watchlist, or while signed out to clear the separate browser watchlist. Clearing browser storage also removes device-only choices.
Every shock-alert email will include a channel unsubscribe link. It stops major shock alerts only. The existing global unsubscribe suppresses every MacroLens email. Confirmation links expire and can be used once.
Email vinudaweerasinghe@gmail.com to see, correct, export or delete your account data. Deleting your account removes your profile and ends the daily emails; usage-event records already aggregated are anonymised.
